Ceramicist Lori Phillips fills her work with color, texture, and soul. I love how her pieces are full of life and movement.

This bulbous vase carries a shape that’s just so. It’s round and normal, but just off enough that you want to stare at it for a while. But I also want to talk about how expertly Lori prices her work. The vase above is $65. But the mug below is only $30. This type of multi-leveled pricing ensures that anyone who loves her work will feel like they can afford to buy some of it. It’s a never-turn-someone-away style that is sure to suit Lori well.

There are other ways to successfully price your work, but I like how this makes your work accessible to everyone. It’s a friendlier strategy than most pricing models. |  This mug makes me think of that perfectly decorated bohemian apartment in California. Creative, lively, full of personality and happiness.

And where she holds back on color, she more than makes up for it in stunning textural detail. I mean, truly, take a look at this detail:

Lori has a few other things up in her shop that are fantastic too. Take a look and don’t forget to get in touch with her to hear about her journey as an MFA student, working toward a masters in Ceramics or to discuss pricing with her.

Inspiring thoughts,
Laura
